Ways to grow your social media platform

Its not alway simple to grow your social media platform, but once you do, its lots of fun and you can connect with lots of new people. Heres a few of my tips and tricks to grow an established social media.

1. Make sure that you have the time and the effort to put into the account. It takes a fair amount of work that you have to give to the account in order for it to thrive. Make sure that you are prepared.

2. Have a public account. Although you or your parents may not want you to have a public account, it is crucial to really building up a reputable account. Along with having a public account comes the importance of blocking. Make sure the you frequently check who started following you and your followers. If someone has no followers, or no posts, or has no business following you. If they have any of those things, block them and keep your account safe.

3. Photoshoots. Posting pictures from photoshoots will help to gain followers because thats what people want to see. If you don’t want to pay for a photoshoot, you can take pictures with your iPhone. But some advice. Make sure those pictures are clear and nicely lit, probably outside. Try not to use self timer and just ask a friend or family member to take a quick picture of you.

4. Post often. Posting often really helps to keep your feed interesting and fun as well as keep you active. Don’t post TOO many videos or big group shots because the people want to see YOU!

5. Ambassadors. A good way to get noticed is to apply to be ambassadors for feature pages and dance wear brands. If you follow a bunch of feature pages, once they hold an ambassador search, you can apply and possibly get it. In exchange for the feature page/brand posting about you often and including you in giveaways, etc., you post about fun activities they are doing. Dance wear brands may also send you clothes for free or give you a discount. This is a great way to establish relationships and make your account more professional. ** Quick tip- Accounts looking for ambassadors want people with a nice feed and good quality pictures. You may not get chosen every time but keep trying.

6. Follow a bunch of people who have the same interests as you. Many of them follow you back so you can gain followers and friends.

7. Get a follower tracker app. This app can show you who doesn’t follow you back or who unfollowed you. Some people will follow you and then once you follow them back, they will unfollow without you knowing. The app prevents you from doing that. The app that I use is called Reports+.

8. Follow loops. There are things called a follow loop that can help you gain followers. The downside is that once you grow your social media you may only want to see certain types of pictures (professional) but if you unfollow them, they’ll do the same. When you participate in a follow loop, you get put in a group chat and then are given text, a picture, and a time to post it. Once you post the picture in the caption, it will direct you to another persons page that you can follow and they direct it to another. This goes on until you come back to your page. You can participate in follow loops, host them ( a lot of work) , or just follow on someones post.

9. Be in a magazine. There are lots of small magazines that you can submit your photos to and they will publish you. Then once you receive the magazine, you can take a picture with it and they might repost it. Its a good way to be professional and be in a fun new magazine! Some examples of smaller magazines are DanceFeatureMagazine , DanceLifeMagazine , KidFashMagazine .

10. Join a support group. A support group is a group chat that you send your new post to and everyone in the chat will like and comment on it, as long as you do the same for them. This is one of the best ways to connect and form a sort of friendship with your followers.

11. BE ACTIVE. This is by far, the most important thing to do. You have to comment and like on the pictures you see on your feed so that people recognize and like you. It may take time but its worth it!
